Circle Keeper Training
Workshop for Beginners TRJ facilitates a two-day, foundational workshop to provide an experience-based understanding of the components of Circle Keeping. You will learn about the Indigenous roots of Circle, Circle's connection to Restorative Justice, how to develop a Circle plan (also called a script), and collect tips for "keeping" the Circle when logistical or interpersonal conflicts arise. Come prepared to engage and share your own wisdom, and leave feeling connected to your fellow participants and this old way of being. The full cost for the 2-day workshop is $150. Triad RJ wants to make our services available to anyone regardless of ability to pay, so we utilize a sliding scale for tickets. We also need to make sure that we can adequately pay our staff and sustain our services. Please make a ticket selection that fits your budget and circumstances. We believe Black Lives Matter. While many restorative practices are thought of as methods for healing interpersonal harm, we understand harm is perpetuated at systemic and intergenerational levels. We believe the BLM movement seeks to center the humanity of brothers, sisters, and siblings who have been harmed on both interpersonal, institutional, and intergenerational levels because of racism.
As Fania Davis explains, restorative justice work must be healing work and activism work. We reflect on how to dismantle racism within ourselves, our organization, and our community. We embed reflection within staff meetings, training, and designing programs. We know we will not be perfect at this work, and we welcome feedback if and when we perpetuate harm. |
